Acting icon Isabelle Huppert will receive the French Lumière prize

Iconic French actress Isabelle Huppert will be honored this year at the Lyon Lumière Festival with the prestigious Lumière Prize for her contribution to cinema.

The institute gave just a sampling of Huppert’s more than 155 films to his credit, which include collaborations with French directing legends such as Claude Chabrol, Claire Denis, François Ozon and Bertrand Tavernier, as well as ‘with international filmmakers such as Michael Haneke, Paul Verhoeven and Hong Sang-soo. The Lumière Huppert Prize will take its place alongside a trophy case of other distinctions, including two best actress awards at Cannes – for Violette Nozière (1978) and The piano teacher (2001) — two awards from the Volpi Cup in Venice, for best actress in A history of women (1988) and Ceremony (1995), and nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in Verhoeven She. The French actress will be president of the jury at the Venice Film Festival this year.

Thierry Frémaux, general delegate of the Cannes Film Festival, launched the Lumière Film Festival in 2009 and is also director of the Lumière Institute. The 16th edition of the festival takes place from October 12 to 20.
