Apple, Bose, Sony and more

Hey, you with ears. Want to listen to music? How about movies, podcasts, or any other audio coming from your phone, tablet, or laptop? It’s time to buy a pair of wireless Bluetooth headphones. And I hope you like having choices, because at last count, there were about 2.8 million of them on the market. Oh, maybe not. that There are a lot of them, but a lot of them — which makes it difficult to find the best wireless earbuds for your ears (and your budget). Fear not: I’ve tested some of the best products (as well as many lesser-known ones) and narrowed them down to the following list of true standouts.

Table of contents:

The good news is that it’s hard to make a bad choice. All of the products featured here sound incredible; most are also very good at canceling out outside noise. (Others are just good at it.) That said, you won’t hear me pick the “best-sounding wireless earbuds” because that’s too subjective; I’d say it depends on the eye of the beholder (or, I don’t know, the ear of the listener?).

So read on for my picks and keep reading to find out what factors to consider when choosing wireless earbuds (sound quality, battery life, etc.), how we tested them, and more. Oh, and if you’re on a budget, check out the best cheap wireless earbuds for 2024.

If you’re an iPhone user, you probably don’t mind paying more for hardware. In that case, there’s no better option than Apple’s latest AirPods Pro . While they only feature minor improvements over the first-generation model, they were already great to begin with. (Android users, take note: You can use them with your phone, but without the full suite of software features. If that’s a problem for you, stick with one of the other picks on this list.)

What you get here is even better ANC, increased battery life, extra-small ear tips for users with smaller ears, and an adaptive audio mode that adjusts noise cancellation and transparency modes based on the sounds around you.

Meanwhile, Apple’s charging case now has a speaker (for use with Find My) and a USB-C port instead of the Lightning port (to better match the USB-C iPhone 15). I don’t like the charging status LED, which isn’t very useful, but it’s a minor quibble.

Indeed, the AirPods Pro 2 are a pretty excellent product, and the price is actually a bit lower than its premium competitors like Bose and Sony, especially when there’s a sale, which is almost always the case these days.
