Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo to Play ‘Wicked’ Characters at the Olympics

Wicked Stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo adopted their characters’ iconic colors for the red carpet of the Paris 2024 Olympics opening ceremony.

Grande opted for a sleeveless, ankle-length, 1950s-style pink dress by designer Thom Browne, according to World Health DayThe chic dress was adorned with a pink bow on the front. The Grammy Award-winning singer completed the ensemble with white gloves and a long pink bow in her hair tied back.

Erivo, also wearing a 1950s-style gown, looked stunning in her character Elphaba’s signature emerald hue. The Tony Award-winning actress wore a strapless gown with an angular skirt. Erivo added drama to the outfit with a matching wide-brimmed hat. Unlike her co-star, she opted for no gloves and instead color-coordinated her long, intricately decorated nails.

The duo are set to star in Jon M. Chu’s adaptation of the Tony Award-winning musical. Wickedwhich will be released in theaters this fall. Erivo and Grande have expressed their love for their respective characters Elphaba and Galinda or Glinda, the good witch.

The co-stars also expressed their appreciation for each other. Erivo and Grande each posted a photo on their Instagram Stories of themselves holding hands in their coordinated Opening Ceremony looks.

In addition to their many coordinated looks before the Wicked The press tour has even officially begun, with Erivo and Grande making their friendship permanent with matching tattoos. Taking to Instagram Stories, the co-stars got matching “For Good” tattoos, a nod to their characters’ well-known tattoos. Wicked duo, accompanied by another matching flower tattoo.

Earlier this month, Universal Pictures announced that the musical feature would now hit theaters on November 22, instead of its originally scheduled November 27 release.
