Ariana Grande And Cynthia Erivo were the most popular stars on the red carpet of the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games. All thanks to their Wicked-inspired outfits, the co-stars defied expectations — and maybe even gravity — as they arrived at the venue across from the Eiffel Tower.

In the photoshoot on Friday, July 26, Ariana, 31, wore a sleeveless pale pink dress with a matching hair tie and high heels. As for Cynthia, 37, she chose a green satin dress with a matching hat that gave off a grand Wizard of Oz vibes as she and Ari stop in front of the cameras together.

The powerhouse singers and talented actresses have been promoting the first part of their upcoming film, which is set to hit theaters on November 22. At recent promotional events, Ari and Cynthia have been rocking looks that fit the theme of their respective characters. Ariana plays the role of Glinda, and Cynthia plays Elphaba, who later becomes the Wicked Witch of the West in The Wizard of Oz.

By The World of BroadwayAriana opened up about her preparation for Glinda in a February interview. The Nickelodeon alum admitted that she’s “never wanted anything as badly as [she] “I’ve done that” in his career.

“I worked every day with [my vocal coaches] “To transform my voice,” the “Yes, And?” singer said. “My singing voice, everything about me, I had to kind of deconstruct them to prove to them that I could handle this other person.”

Adding that she “had to completely erase pop star Ari” in order to land the role of Glinda, Ariana acknowledged her Broadway roots. She previously starred in 13: The Musical before landing her role in Victorious.

“I started on Broadway, I’ve always loved musicals and I’ve always been an actress,” she explained, adding, “I miss acting. I think spending so much time with a character, instead of this characterized version of myself, was really nice.”

Since landing the iconic role, based on the original Broadway version, Ariana has insisted that she’s “really, really worked hard for this and my God, I’m so grateful for it because it’s the best, most transformative, most special experience of my life.” As for her relationship with her character, the “Break Free” singer noted that she’s had a connection with the hot pink good witch since she was 10 years old.

“The funny thing is, the reason I thought I loved Glinda since I was 10 isn’t what makes us so connected,” Ariana pointed out. “The high notes, the comedy, the pink, the laughter, and the clowning, that’s what attracted me when I was 10, but it’s so interesting that there’s so much more to it beneath the surface.”
