EU designates XNXX as very large online platform under Digital Services Act

BRUSSELS (Reuters) – The European Union has designated adult content platform XNXX as a very large online platform (VLOP) under its Digital Services Act (DSA) because it has an average of 45 million monthly users in the EU, it said in a statement on Wednesday.

DSA rules require companies to share data with authorities and researchers, manage risks and submit to external, independent auditing.

They also allow the Commission to impose fines for incorrect, incomplete or misleading information in response to a request for information.

XNXX has four months to implement measures to protect online users, including minors, and address any systemic risks arising from its services, the Commission also said.

In December 2023, the EU designated three more adult content platforms – Pornhub, Stripchat and XVideos – as VLOPs.
