Joaquin completely transformed into his Arthur Fleck character and surprised everyone when he revealed what it took to achieve that look.

When Joker debuted at the 76th Venice Film Festival, he explained that, according to SquireHe had lost 50 pounds to play the character. “The first thing for us was the weight loss,” he said. “I think that’s really where I started. And it turns out that it then affects your psychology. You start going crazy when you’ve lost that much weight in such a short period of time.”

During his press tour, Joaquin has been very candid about his weight loss journey and his controversial diet consisting solely of lettuce and steamed vegetables.

For the long-awaited sequel Joker: Madness for TwoJoaquin has transformed into a sinister character once again, but the 49-year-old actor changed his tune when talking about his transformation.

“I’m not going to talk about the details of the diet, because I don’t think anyone wants to hear that. But this time it was a little more complicated, simply because there were so many dance rehearsals that I didn’t have last time,” Joaquin said at the 81st Venice Film Festival, according to Variety.

“It’s a little harder, but it’s safe,” he continued. “But you’re right, I’m 49 now, I probably shouldn’t do it again. This is probably the end for me.”

Joaquin was joined by his co-star Lady Gaga (real name Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta), who plays a new character, Harleen Quinzel, aka Harley Quinn. Joaquin added that she also underwent a transformation for the film.

“Stefani also lost a lot of weight,” he said. “I remember the first time I met you during rehearsals, then you left and when you came back, you lost a lot of weight. It was really impressive.”

Unlike his openness to discussing diet and weight loss for Joker At length, Joaquin was more hesitant about his process going forward. “I know I was responsible for talking about it last time, but it’s hard to make it your obsession because you’re working all the time to get to a certain weight,” he said.
