Baby Reindeer, Mr. and Mrs. Smith And Colin Accounts were the big winners of the first ever Gotham TV Awards.
Early, Colin of the accounts swept the comedy categories, winning Breakthrough Comedy Series and Outstanding Performance in a Comedy Series (Harriet Dyer).
Accepting both awards, co-creator and star Dyer said she was “overwhelmed” and dedicated the honors to her husband and Colin Accounts co-creator and fellow star Patrick Brammall, whom she called “the other half of this show” and said she “couldn’t do the show without him”.
But she noted Brammall was back in Australia looking after their child, “because fuck the patriarchy”.
In the drama categories, Mr and Mrs Smith won a breakthrough drama series while 3 Body ProblemZine Tseng of , won Outstanding Performance in a Drama Series.
The limited series categories have also been divided with Baby reindeer win first prize and RipleyAndrew Scott’s Andrew Scott wins for an outstanding performance in a limited series.
The Breakthrough Nonfiction Series Award went to Jerrod Carmichael’s Reality TV Show.
The Gotham TV Awards also honored Law and Order: Special Victims UnitThey are Mariska Hargitay, The crownit’s Peter Morgan and Expatriates“Lulu Wang.
The Gotham Film & Media Institute announced less than two months ago that it would separate the television awards that had, for the past decade, been presented as part of the main Gotham Awards film and television ceremony that usually takes place after Thanksgiving.
The following month, The Gotham announced the nominees in seven categories (Breakthrough Comedy, Drama, Limited Series and Nonfiction and Outstanding Performance in Comedy, Drama and Limited Series) for the Gotham TV Awards. Like the Gotham Film Awards, the TV Awards categories are gender neutral.
The curse, Shogun And Bodkin earned three nominations each, followed by the following double nominees: Colin Accounts, Gen V, Fallout, Black Cake, Baby Reindeer, Under the Bridge, Ripley And The sympathizer. Colin Accounts was the only project to win multiple awards, excluding all triple nominees. Having also not won any prizes on Tuesday evening, Gen V, Fallout, Black Cake, Below Deck And The sympathizer.
Gotham TV Awards nominations were selected by committees of critics, journalists, programmers and curators. The winners were determined by separate juries made up of writers, directors, actors, producers, editors and others directly involved in the making of television and film.
During the 2023 Gotham Awards, which also took place before the 2023 Emmys delayed by the strike, Beef, which received the most nominations in the TV categories with three nominations, won the TV awards with two awards (two nominations were in the same category). The limited series won a breakthrough series of less than 40 minutes, and star Ali Wong won an outstanding performance in a new series, beating his on-screen counterpart…
