Jeremy Renner joins Daniel Craig in Netflix sequel

Jeremy Renner continues his comeback from his snowplow accident and joins Daniel Craig in Rian Johnson’s Netflix sequel At Knives Out 3, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed.

The actor joins previously confirmed cast members Daniel Craig, Glenn Close, Andrew Scott, Kerry Washington, Josh O’Connor and Cailee Spaeny in the upcoming film, titled Wake Up Dead Man: A knife-edge mystery. Writer-director Johnson is a producer, as is Ram Bergman.

Netflix has announced that the third film will follow a new murder mystery in a yet-to-be-disclosed setting and will feature another colorful array of suspects catching the attention of returning detective Benoit Blanc (Craig). Last week, Johnson announced that production on the film is expected to begin soon.

Renner continues his return to the Hollywood fray after being hit by a snowcat at his home in Reno, Nevada, on January 1, 2023. Known for playing Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the actor filmed Mayor of Kingstown a year after the accident, with new episodes of the Paramount+ drama series launching next month.

The first one Knives out was released theatrically in 2019 from Lionsgate and raked in over $310 million at the worldwide box office. It featured an ensemble including Craig, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis and Christopher Plummer.

THR previously reported that Netflix paid more than $450 million for two sequels. His first follow-up, Glass onion: a mystery at daggers drawnlaunching on the streamer in 2022 with Craig, Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kate Hudson and Dave Bautista among the cast members.
