Joe Manganiello Talks Sofia Vergara Divorce, Disagreement Over Kids

Joe Manganiello responds to Sofia Vergara’s claim that they divorced because wanting more children was an obstacle for her.

Vergara had already revealed in a Spanish newspaper The country It’s her Ex-husband’s desire for more children played an important role in their separation.

“My marriage broke up because my husband was younger; he wanted to have children and I didn’t want to be an old mother,” she said. “I had a son at 19, who is now 32, and I am ready to be a grandmother, not a mother. So if love comes, it has to come with me.” [his own] children.”

In an interview with PeopleVergara expanded on her reasoning, adding: “I totally respect that everyone wants to be a mother after 50. I didn’t think, because of my career, because of the way I live my life, because of the way my marriage was, that it was right to bring a child into the world, and I wouldn’t be able to give 100 percent.”

However, Manganiello gives his point of view.

In a new interview with Men’s Journalthe actor and executive producer of Deal Island or No Deal Island “There has been a lot of talk in the press about my desire to start a family. It’s simply not true.”

“We were trying to start a family for the first year and a half,” he explained. “And we had a long conversation right at the beginning, within the first month of dating. I said, ‘If you’re done with kids, then I understand. Just tell me and I’ll know what you mean, and it’ll be OK.’ But that wasn’t the case with her. And I swore to her that I would never leave if it didn’t work out. And I didn’t.”

Although he wants to have children, Manganiello told the publication that “that’s not necessarily why it ended. It’s because two people grew apart, and sometimes that happens.”

“To be portrayed as if I had some sort of midlife crisis and nine years later I turned to someone and gave them an ultimatum: ‘Do this potentially unhealthy thing to your body or I’m gone?’ I’ve never been like that.”

Vergara and Manganiello announced their separation after seven years of marriage in a joint statement last July. “We have made the difficult decision to divorce,” the couple said in a statement to Page Six. “As two people who love and care deeply for each other, we politely ask for our privacy as we navigate this new phase of our lives.”
