Lucy Hale to Receive Humanitarian Award at Friendly House Luncheon

Lucy Hale will soon be friendly with a Friendly House award.

The actress was selected to receive the Humanitarian Award at the long-running residential rehab facility’s 34th annual awards luncheon. The honoree program will also see trophies presented to musician and Warner Chappell Music senior vice president of research and development Greg Sowders (Visionary Award), behavioral health executive Zina Rodriguez (Excellence in Service Award) and psychologist, author and researcher Dr. Don Grant (Unsung Hero Award).

Bishop Briggs, Portugal, will also be a guest performer and presenter at the event. John Gourley, the rocker from The Man, will perform, Morgan Mallory will be the event chair, and Christina Simos, the executive director of Friendly House, will take the stage. The fundraising luncheon will be held at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles on September 14.

For Hale, best known for his starring role in pretty Little LiarsShe will receive the glow after taking a step forward to share her sobriety journey. In January, she shared with her 23.9 million Instagram followers that she had reached the two-year mark of sobriety.

“This remains the greatest gift I have ever given myself. I remain so grateful for another year of growth, pain, lessons, joys, and personal accomplishments. Being able to show up as I am and be met with such warmth and acceptance is something I do not take for granted,” she wrote. “The interactions, conversations, and moments of vulnerability with people I know, people I have known, people I have hurt, people who have hurt me, strangers, and even people on the internet have given my life so much color and meaning.”

Founded in 1951, Friendly House has been on the front lines as a residential recovery program helping women recover from alcohol and substance abuse. The organization recently expanded its footprint by launching an intensive outpatient program in Culver City.
