Mindy Kaling welcomes her third baby

Congratulations are in order for Mindy Kaling.

Kaling quietly welcomed her third child earlier this year, she announced on social media Monday.

“At the end of February, I gave birth to my daughter, Anne. This is the best birthday present I could have imagined,” Kaling, who turns 45 on Monday, wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of her newborn with her two children. She also shared a photo showing off her baby bump and an image of her in a hospital bed alongside her two older children.

“When things are tough, every time I veer into cynicism, my three children remind me so much of the pure joy in my life. I’m so lucky to live in a place where I could do this on my own, on my own schedule. Thanks for all the birthday wishes,” she continued.

Kaling is already the mother of a 6-year-old daughter and a 3-year-old son. Kaling has never revealed the identity of the father of her children and has a habit of revealing her baby’s happy news to the public in a surprising way.

In 2017, Kaling revealed her first surprise pregnancy when she announced she was expecting her first child in an interview with Sunday today. “It’s so unfamiliar to me. I have a lot of control over a lot of aspects of my life, and this is one where I’m like, ‘OK, it’s not up to me,’ which is kind of funny,” she told the time.

Kaling then teased another surprise revelation in 2020 when she shared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert that she had welcomed her second child. “I’m saying it for the first time now, it’s so strange. But I gave birth to a baby boy on September 3. This is news to many people. It’s true!” Kaling said at the time. “His name is Spencer. I forgot the most important part of it. The actor-writer-producer said she was able to keep her second pregnancy largely secret due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

While The Jennifer Hudson Show In May, Kaling opened up about her children and revealed that she could see her daughter following in her footsteps in the industry. “She did a little bit of musical theater and liked it, but again, she wanted to be the star of the production and so wasn’t interested,” she said. Meanwhile, she said her son was “a little more shy.”
