If there’s one type of character Nicole Kidman excels at playing, it’s the rich woman with an enviable wardrobe who finds herself at the center of a scandal. (To be clear, she excels at playing all sorts of characters. It’s why she’s won an Oscar and been nominated five times.)
As you may recall, she won an Emmy for playing a California woman dealing with abuse and grief on the HBO crime series. Big Little Lies.
She also played an Upper East Side therapist whose husband is accused of murder in (another) HBO thriller. The defeat.
Nicole is (thankfully) back as another elegant and wealthy woman surrounded by controversy in the new Netflix series, The perfect couplewhich is based on the novel of the same name by author Elin Hilderbrand.
Better yet, the trailer was released on July 11th and the series looks very promising.
Bad sistersEve Hewson plays Amelia, a woman who marries a member of a wealthy Nantucket family.
Under the banner of heavenBilly Howle plays her fiancé Benji.
Nicole and Liev Schreiber play the groom’s high-society parents, Greer and Tag Winbury.
With The White LotusMeghann Fahy plays Merritt, Amelia’s best friend.
And Beyond the clouds“Ishaan Khatter is Benji’s best friend, Shooter.
There is also SolicitudeJack Reynor plays Benji’s brother Thomas, and Dakota Fanning plays Thomas’ wife, Abby.
As the trailer makes clear, the series follows the Winbury family in the heat of marriage when a dead body is found on the beach near their home.

This image alone, of Nicole thoughtfully removing her expensive-looking sunglasses, indicates that the series will likely be a must-see.
