THR Roundtables with Sofia Vergara and Jennifer Aniston

The Hollywood ReporterThe annual Emmy Awards roundtable series has proven to be a must-see stop on this year’s always-crowded campaign trail.

In fact, 22 participating performers had their names announced Wednesday as the 2024 Emmy nominations round was handed out ahead of the Sept. 15 telecast. Among them: Jon Hamm, who was twice nominated for his roles on the FX television series Fargo and Apple The morning show, with True DetectiveJodie Foster (who was also nominated for producing), QuarrelThis is Naomi Watts, Travel companions‘ Matt Bomer, Royal palmKristen Wiig and Saturday Night LiveThis is Bowen Yang.

To put things in perspective, six of the seven actresses nominated for the star-studded drama actress panel earned nominations for their performances (in both the limited and drama categories), and all of the writer-producers who nominated for THRThe live producers’ roundtable saw its show recognized. Equally impressive were four of the comedians who appeared on THRThe first stand-up Emmy Awards roundtable had some specials nominated this time around.

The producers’ round table brought together a sextet of production heavyweights: To fallJonathan Nolan, Mr. and Mrs. SmithFrancesca Sloane, RipleySteven Zaillian, Tips“Just Statsky, The crownPeter Morgan and True DetectiveIssa Lopez. The conversation, which took place in front of a live audience, covered everything from painful passes to body searches on set.

The first-ever Emmy Awards panel discussion featured a who’s who of comedic talent, including nominees Alex Edelman (Just for us), Mike Birbiglia (The Old Man and the Pool), Jacqueline Novak (Get on your Knees) and Ramy Youssef (More feelings), who also received a nomination for directing The bearTheir hour-long conversation ranged from the existential to the absurd (fart jokes included).

The comedy actress roundtable included newly nominated female comedians Quinta Brunson of Abbott Elementary School as well as BootyMaya Rudolph and Royal palmKristin Wiig. Rudolph and Wiig were also nominated for their animated work on Saturday Night Livethey discussed at the table. The loud and revealing conversation also touched on ignoring industry expectations, the pressure to undermine their privacy and having to, as one participant put it, “tap dance for the patriarchy.”
