Travis Kelce Buys Stake in Racehorse That, of Course, Has a Taylor Swift-Inspired Name

Travis Kelce has bought a stake in the ownership group of a new racehorse.

Of course, there’s a perfect Taylor Swift reference to go along with it.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end has purchased a significant stake in Swift Delivery, a 3-year-old gelding, Team Valor International founder Barry Irwin announced Tuesday. While the horse wasn’t named after Swift, Irwin said it was “a complete coincidence” that the name fits him perfectly.

Kelce’s brother, former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, was also amused by the news.

“It’s very exciting,” Irwin said. told the Associated Press“I met him at the Kentucky Derby and got to hang out with him and stuff, and we talked about horses and stuff. When this horse was discovered and it was already owned by one of my partners, with that name, I thought it would be a no-brainer.”

Details regarding Kelce’s ownership of the horse are unknown, although he has been a co-owner for about a month now.

Kelce and Swift have been dating for nearly a year, and their relationship dominated the NFL world last season as the Chiefs won their second consecutive Super Bowl. Kelce has been spotted at several of her concerts during “The Eras Tour,” and he even took the stage for a brief appearance at a show at London’s Wembley Stadium in June.

The Swift Delivery purchase is the latest major move Kelce has made before this season. He signed a new deal with Amazon’s Wondery to distribute his podcast with his brother, which is worth more than $100 million over the next three years. He also landed a guest spot on the upcoming “Happy Gilmore” sequel, appeared on FX’s horror series “Grotesquerie,” hosted the game show “Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?” and much more.

Swift Delivery has won his last two races and is scheduled to run next Saturday at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto. His latest winning streak came after he failed to finish better than third in six consecutive races.

“He’s a horse that we’ve always liked a lot, and he hasn’t performed well. And now he’s performing well,” trainer Mark Casse said, via The Associated Press. “This horse is good. He’s good right now, and he’s got the potential to go on and do great things.”

Kelce and the Chiefs will open their season against the Baltimore Ravens on Sept. 5.
