Woody Harrelson explains why he hasn’t owned a cell phone in three years

Woody Harrelson probably won’t respond to texts or calls in a timely manner.

The Oscar-nominated actor revealed in a recent episode of the series Where everyone knows your name podcast that he hasn’t regularly carried a cell phone with him in years because he found himself addicted to the device at one point.

“Let me explain something to you about Woody: He doesn’t have a phone,” his podcast co-host and Cheers said co-star Ted Danson. “He’s one of those bullies in life who forces others to carry his phone for him. “Hey, we need to know something right away, call Woody.” And I make fun of whoever says that to me.

“Well, that’s not quite true,” Harrelson replied. “I just don’t like having to be available to a human being at all times. And what’s more, that’s not the reason. I like being around people, in a way, but I don’t like my appendix.

THE True Detective The actor explained that he gave up using a cell phone three and a half years ago because he spent too much time on it.

“I created a thing where I’m like, ‘Okay, I’m going to set a two-hour limit on my phone,'” he said. “It’s around 9:30. I’ve already reached my limit at 9:30. So I woke up and I’ve been there for two hours already, because you know how it can go on and on.

Harrelson said he even caught himself being distracted by the phone while having dinner with someone and there was a “lull in the conversation.” He also noted that he generally didn’t use apps or take calls, but instead responded to lots of text messages.

“I never used it as a phone,” said the White House Plumbers recalled. “Send text messages.”

While Harrelson now lives a life undistracted by technology, Danson admitted, “By the way, I admire what you do with phones, Woody. I have to emulate that.
