From sequins to elegant gowns, see the best dressed celebrities at the 2024 Met Gala!
The 2024 Met Gala was expected to be like a fairy tale, but the Costume Institute’s goal wasn’t to resurrect classic stories. Instead, as Vogue explains, the theme has “nothing to do with the Brothers Grimm or Disney, but rather is a celebration of clothes and fashion so fragile that they can never be worn again – and are therefore sleeping beauties in the archives scrupulously maintained by The Costume. Institute.”
The publication also highlighted that viewers would expect “to see a range of clothing on display, dating as far back as a 17th-century English Elizabethan bodice, which embodies the beauty of the natural world – its fragility and inevitability decline. More modern, less delicate pieces, imbued with the same spirit as the fashions highlighted, will be presented alongside them and broken down into three sub-themes: Earth, Sea and Sky.
