Daycare worker charged with child cruelty after video shows her hitting child against wall, court hears

A daycare worker has a warrant out for her arrest after being charged with child cruelty following an incident at a Cobb County daycare.

According to the Cobb County Court warrant, on April 1, at Childtime of Kennesaw on Cobb Parkway, Misty Brealynn Lanier was seen on daycare security cameras dumping a girl on a cot.

The child hit his head and after that, the video, according to court documents, shows Lanier hitting the child in the back and then walking away.

Court documents detail how Lanier then returned to the victim and began pushing her head into the bed while punching her at the same time.

The video then shows Lanier lifting the victim and punching him to the ground, causing the child to hit his head and bounce on the bed.

Court documents describe how security video from the daycare shows Lanier throwing the child against a wall in the corner.

Lanier is accused, according to court records, of hitting the victim multiple times and using excessive force on several occasions, throwing her onto the bed and causing her to hit her head against the bed and wall.

Channel 2 Action News contacted the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office to obtain a photo of Lanier.

Details regarding the child’s condition are unknown at this time.
