Jon Stewart to Host Weekly Podcast on Comedy Central

Jon Stewart is adding another hosting gig to his Daily Show plate – although this one isn’t filmed.

Stewart, who returned to The daily show for a once-a-week spin behind the desk in February, will host a podcast for Comedy Central starting in June. We will call him The weekly show and will essentially be an audio version of The daily showwith Stewart tackling pressing current affairs topics and interviewing journalists, authors and celebrities.

“After much thought, meditation and prayer, I have decided to extend my work week to two days,” Stewart joked in a statement. “Hey everyone Comedy Central! »

Stewart is back at The daily show – which he hosted for 16 years before stepping down in 2015 – for about two months, following Comedy Central’s surprise announcement that he would host the late-night show on Mondays (except this week) until the presidential election. His return was a boon for the show’s audience, both on the evenings he hosted and the rest of the week, where the show’s correspondents took turns behind the presenters’ desk.

at Stewart Weekly show the podcast will live alongside the existing Daily show: ears edition, an audio-only version of the nightly television show. The latter show also benefited from Stewart’s return, claiming a spot among the top 10 comedy podcasts.

Paramount Audio and Stewart’s Busboy Productions will produce The weekly show. Dixon Talent and WME, which represents Stewart, negotiated the deal.
