Man using Arlington crosswalk struck and killed by car; Driver didn’t stop, police say

A driver abandoned his car early Sunday and ran toward an apartment complex after the vehicle struck and killed a man using a crosswalk at an Arlington intersection, police said, attributing the account to a witness .

The pedestrian, a 30-year-old man, died on West Pioneer Parkway at Center Street, Arlington police said.

The man was attempting to cross from the north side of Pioneer Parkway to the south side around 2 a.m. when he was struck by a black Honda Civic traveling east along Pioneer Parkway, police said.

The driver of the Civic did not stop and left the scene, police said.

Police found the Civic near the crash site and said officers saw several containers of alcohol inside.

Police have not identified the driver. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office has not released the pedestrian’s name.
