Ocean View shooting reclassified as murder investigation

May 2 — Hawaii Island police upgraded a shooting case to a murder investigation about a week after human remains were found at a property in the Hawaii Ocean View Estate subdivision.

The remains discovered April 23 were identified as Anthony Theodore Wagoner, 39, whose last known address was in Duluth, Minnesota, according to a news release.

An April 29 autopsy determined Wagoner died from a “single gunshot wound,” police said.
