The British edition of Rebel Wilson’s new memoir The rise of the rebels will be released with redacted passages about his past experiences on set with Sacha Baron Cohen.

Although the full chapter is still in the US version of the memoir, out in libraries on April 2, publisher HarperCollins said The Guardian in a new statement: “We publish every page, but for legal reasons, in the UK edition we redact most of a page with a few other small redactions and an explanatory note. These sections are just a small part of a much larger story.
Following the editorial announcement, a spokesperson for Baron Cohen said in a statement: “Harper Collins failed to fact-check this chapter of the book prior to publication and took the wise but woefully late step of remove Rebel Wilson’s defamatory claims once presented with evidence. that they were false.
The statement continued: “Printing lies is against the law in the United Kingdom and Australia; This is not a “peculiarity” as Ms. Wilson said, but a legal principle that has existed for several hundred years. This is a clear victory for Sacha Baron Cohen and it confirms what we have been saying all along: this is blatantly false, in a shameful and failed attempt to sell books.”
The Hollywood Reporter has reached out to Wilson’s rep for comment.
Last month, Baron Cohen’s spokesperson denied any allegations of unrest on set, writing in a statement at the time: “While we appreciate the importance of speaking out, these blatantly false claims are directly contradicted by extensive detailed evidence, including contemporary documents, films. images and eyewitness accounts of those present before, during and after the production of The Brothers Grimsby.”
However, Wilson has previously hinted at friction and disagreements over her role in the 2016 comedy.
