Traffic Alert: Fire shuts down bridge near LoanDepot Park ahead of Miami Marlins game

Marlins and Washington Nationals fans heading to Sunday afternoon’s series might have to give themselves another way to lend Depot Park — and more time — after a boat fire closed the one of the bridges on the Miami River.

The Northwest 12th Avenue Bridge, used by many people traveling to the stadium from the east or State Rd. 836, aka Dolphin Expressway, was closed by a boat fire, Miami police announced at 11:17 a.m. via social media social. The Marlins and Nationals are scheduled to tip off at 1:40 p.m.

If you usually exit the Dolphin via Northwest 12th Avenue, instead of turning left, you can continue straight on Northwest 12th Street, past River Landing and onto the Northwest 17th Avenue Bridge.

Or, if you are coming south on Interstate 95 before the Dolphin, stay on 95 South and take the next exit toward Overtown. Continue straight to Northwest Sixth Street, turn right and continue to Northwest Seventh Avenue. Turn left, go over the drawbridge and take an immediate right onto Northwest Seventh Street.

People walking from the Metrorail stop near Jackson Memorial Hospital should head west (right) on Northwest 14th Street and walk to Northwest 17th Avenue to use this bridge.
