Tripadvisor said this morning that a merger is not in the works at this time.
“The Special Committee has determined that, at this time, no third-party transaction is being conducted in the best interests of the Company and its shareholders,” the company said in its earnings announcement of the first trimester. “The special committee will continue to evaluate proposed alternatives, if appropriate. There is no guarantee that any transaction will be successful, and the Company does not plan to provide further updates unless it has something definitive to share.
The special committee was referring to an independent board committee that the company formed after majority shareholder Liberty Tripadvisor announced in February that it had received a merger proposal that would have involved both Liberty Tripadvisor and Tripadvisor.
