Vulnerable House Dems ‘fighting’ to keep their seats reject GOP challenger’s claim he’s ‘indebted’ to Biden

A North Carolina A Democrat seeking re-election in the House says he “fights every day” for families in his district as he fends off accusations from his Republican challenger that he is “indebted” to President Biden and dismissive of his constituents’ concerns.

Rep. Don Davis, D-N.C., said he and his team have “worked so hard to help families in Eastern North Carolina” in an interview with Fox News Digital.

“In the last few weeks alone, we have announced more than $13 million in funds for community projects, 15 different projects in eight counties.”

Republican Laurie Buckhout, running to represent North Carolina’s 1st Congressional Districtsaid Davis is a “career politician” who has “never had a day in his life where he ran a business.”

Rep. Don Davis, D-N.C., the Democratic nominee, will face Republican Laurie Buckhout in the race to represent North Carolina’s 1st Congressional District.

But Davis, a Air Force Veteransaid he “works every day to make sure that the people of eastern North Carolina, that their voices are heard in Washington, D.C., that we make connections and tell the story.”

He also rejected his Republican challenger says he’s ‘indebted’ to President Biden and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y.

“Let me be clear. I want to thank Colonel Buckhout for his service to our country. But I think she couldn’t be further from that comment, because it’s not about being indebted” , did he declare. “I’ve heard about overturning the siege. But, for me, it’s about fighting every day for the families of eastern North Carolina.”

Davis said he was “indebted only to the families of Eastern North Carolina” and highlighted his “fight” for farmers and military families in his district.

“I am fighting so that our children, our young people have a future,” he declared. “I am indebted to this farmer who is struggling right now to understand how he is going to keep his farm open. I am indebted right now to these young people who see that they have a future in the East. I am indebted to the veterans and military families who risk their lives every day.

“I am only indebted to the people of Eastern North Carolina, and I think people know that about me.”

Buckhout, a former Army colonel and first-time candidate, also took aim at Davis for his voting record.

“We have to admit that Davis is just Biden’s surrogate, you know, on the ground,” Buckhout said. “He’s his agent, he’s his man. He does what Biden says. He votes with Biden.”

“I’m only indebted to the people of eastern North Carolina, and I think people know that about me,” Davis told Fox News Digital.

Davis, however, urged voters to examine his record during his election campaign, which was listed among the “Democrats to Launch”
