The Binance CEO said that despite numerous requests, Binance has not received details on the multiple allegations made against it by Nigerian authorities. He also stressed that if Nigerian authorities want to make progress on the swap issue, Tigran “must be allowed to return home.”

Gambaryan, who has American nationality, was arrested alongside British-Kenyan Nadeem Anjarwalla by Nigerian law enforcement last February. The two were captured at an Abuja airport after authorities called Binance representatives to come to the capital. Following their arrest, all naira and peer-to-peer services on Binance in Nigeria were shut down.

Anjarwalla reportedly fled the country in March using a concealed Kenyan passport. Later, reports surfaced that Nigerian security forces were able to identify the location of the Binance representative, arresting him in Kenya at the request of the Nigerian Interpol office. Gambaryan remains in custody and awaits his trial scheduled for May 17.
