More than 30 years later The reverse of fortuneJeremy Irons and Glenn Close are ready for their Bis.
The duo, who faced off as Claus and Sunny von Bülow in the 1990 Oscar-winning thriller, are set to team up again in British director Simon Curtis’ upcoming comedy (My week with Marilyn, Downton Abbey: a new era).
Close and Irons, who also starred in Mike Nichols’ award-winning Broadway play The real thingboth Tony Award winners for their performances, last shared the screen in 1993. The House of Spirits. In Bis, they will play Marie and Nigel, former Broadway icons, who have become residents of a retirement home. Once there, they discover a community of forgotten talents and Marie decides to put on a show, hoping to reignite Nigel’s passion for theater and help him approach this new chapter in their lives.
Henri Winkler (Barry, Arrested development) and Don Johnson (Knives out) are attached to a co-star.
Curtis will direct from a screenplay by Academy Award-nominated writer Robert Nelson Jacobs (Chocolate). Wyck Godfrey, Marty Bowen and Isaac Klausner will produce the film for Temple Hill Entertainment, the company behind the Dusk And Maze Runner franchise. Still in pre-production, Bis will be presented as a package to international buyers at the Cannes Film Market next month. Protagonist Pictures is handling international sales with UTA Independent Film Group and CAA Media Finance sharing domestic duties.

Close, an eight-time Academy Award nominee, who earned acclaim as well as a BAFTA and Academy Award nomination for her turn in the 2017 film. Wifeand plays Nova Prime in the first guardians of the galaxy film, has more recently enjoyed a series of films on streamers, including Netflix’s Hillbilly Ellegy (2020) and Stone heart (2023), and Swan song on AppleTV+.
Irons’ most recent performances include an Emmy-nominated performance as Adrian Veidt in HBO’s Guardians mini-series, Ridley Scott’s by Rodolfo Gucci Gucci Houseand plays Alfred Pennyworth in the DC franchise films The flash And Zack Synder’s Justice Leagueas well as a supporting role in an independent feature film The beekeeper alongside Jason Statham.
Happy Days The Winkler legend became known to a new generation of television fans thanks to his comedy shoots Arrested development and HBO Barrywhile Johnson, a television veteran (Miami Vice, Nash Bridges) who also starred in Guardiansenjoyed cinematic success at the end of his career, thanks to roles in Quentin Tarantino’s film. Django Unchained and that of Rian Johnson Knives out.
