Janet Jackson and Drew Barrymore on turning down X-Men and Boogie Nights

Janet Jackson and Drew Barrymore look back on their acting careers and reveal some iconic films they’ve passed on.

The singer made a surprise appearance on Friday’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Showand in a clip, Jackson shared which legendary superhero she almost played.

After being asked if she was supposed to star in The matrixto which she replied, “No.” Jackson added that she didn’t remember the name of the film but knew who got the role when she turned it down.

“It was… it’s horrible,” said the Good time said an elder. “I don’t remember the movie, but Halle Berry played Storm.” Barrymore exclaimed in response: “X-Men?”

“I couldn’t because I had just embarked on Janet’s tour,” Jackson continued. “But I think that’s what you’re confusing it with.” It was not The matrix.”

Berry debuted her superhero Storm in the 2001 film, adapted from the Marvel comic book, and reprized her role in X2, X-Men: The Last Stand And X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Barrymore, who can relate to Jackson as she also passed on projects she later regretted, recalled another big film she didn’t make, but instead signed on to something else at the time .

“It’s so hard when you think about making a film and end up not doing it,” she explained. “I have so many of these experiences. I never said that out loud, Boogie evenings. There was a time when we were talking about Boogie evenings and I think that’s when I went and did it Forever [A Cinderella Story] and I went in a very different direction.

While the First 50 dates the actress did not indicate which role she was being considered for, the 1997 film Boogie evenings ultimately starred Mark Wahlberg, Julianne Moore, Burt Reynolds and Heather Graham.

THE Poetic justice The star hasn’t appeared on the big screen in over a decade, so when asked if she would be open to returning, she replied: “I definitely would.”
