Kerry Washington joins Daniel Craig in Netflix sequel

Kerry Washington Joins Growing Cast for Rian Johnson’s Sequel At Knives Out 3, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed.

The actress joins previously confirmed cast members Daniel Craig, Andrew Scott, Josh O’Connor and Cailee Spaeny in the project which counts Johnson and Ram Bergman as producers. Last week, writer-director Johnson revealed the film’s title as follows: Wake Up Dead Man: A knife-edge mystery.

Netflix has announced that the third film will follow a new murder mystery in a yet-to-be-disclosed setting and will feature another colorful array of suspects catching the attention of returning detective Benoit Blanc (Craig). Last week, Johnson announced that production on the film is expected to begin soon.

Washington stars alongside Delroy Lindo in the series Freely and is set to direct the Tyler Perry-directed World War II feature Six Triple Eight for Netflix. His other recent credits include films such as The school of good and evil And Promwith the series Little fires everywhere.

The first film of 2019 Knives out was released by Lionsgate and surpassed $310 million at the worldwide box office. It featured an ensemble including Craig, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis and Christopher Plummer.

THR previously reported that Netflix paid more than $450 million for two sequels. His first follow-up, Glass onion: a mystery at daggers drawnbegan streaming in 2022 with a cast including Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kate Hudson and Dave Bautista alongside Craig.

Deadline was the first to break the news of Washington’s casting.
