Kim KardashianThe Met Gala’s gray sweater made headlines, but her metallic dress had even more interesting features! The 43-year-old multi-hyphenate explained to Vogue that her look was accompanied by a “custom” thong because Maison Margiela designer John Galliano wanted to make sure she was “fully covered” for the photos.

“So, I have a custom Margiela thong,” Kim told the outlet in a video interview shared on Tuesday, May 7, a day after the high-profile event in New York.

THE The Kardashians The star added that her designer had thought of “every detail” for her outfit. Kim then explained how John made sure she would be camera ready.

“If you’re standing at the top of the stairs, but the photographers are at the bottom of the stairs and they’re getting a glimpse, and the skirt is metal and there are little peek-a-boo holes inside that, he wanted to make sure I was fully covered in the appropriate places,” Kim explained of the thong.

In addition to her well-made lingerie, Kim also explained that her shoes featured no heels, just a large, clear platform to walk on.

“It’s my shoe. It’s clever because if I had a shoe with a heel, the heel gets stuck in the metal skirt,” she emphasizes before adding: “And so that was our walking problem. To wear them, you stand on your tiptoes and stay balanced the entire time, flexing your calf muscles. So that’s what I’m going to have to do is stand on my tiptoes.

As for why she decided to wear the intricate footwear, the SKIMS boss said she wanted more “height” for the high-end event.

“I think we really need some height in this look, so we have to do what we have to do,” Kim concluded.

The Hulu personality’s metallic ensemble caused a stir on social media after hitting the red carpet on Monday, May 6. In addition to her waist cinched in by the tight corset, Kim’s sweater was also a buzzworthy topic. Some thought she was hanging on to the shawl to cover up a wardrobe malfunction. However, Kim noted in her post Vogue video interview which she was simply inspired by “the craziest night of [her] Life in a Garden,” to match the Met Gala theme, “The Garden of Time.”

“I ran out, grabbed my boyfriend’s sweater, put it on and had to go to work. And my hair is all messy,” she said, describing her mindset for the entire look.
