Julia Garner joins Josh Brolin in Zach Cregger’s film

Julia Garner, who is quickly establishing herself as one of Hollywood’s most sought-after talents, has landed the lead role in Weaponsthe New Line horror film Barbaric filmmaker Zach Cregger.

Garner will star alongside Josh Brolin in the feature film, which is expected to begin filming in mid-May in Atlanta.

Cregger wrote the top secret screenplay for Weaponswhich is described as a multi-layered, interconnected horror epic whose tone is in the vein of Magnoliafilmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson’s 1999 actor-filled showcase.

The project is also a meeting of the Barbaric production team. Cregger produces with Roy Lee of Vertigo and JD Lifshitz and Raphael Margules of BoulderLight Pictures. Miri Yoon of Vertigo also produces.

Garner gained recognition for his three-time Emmy Award-winning role in Netflix’s acclaimed crime drama, Ozark. Since finishing, she’s been in tears at the prospect of landing gigs at big studios, becoming one of the city’s fixtures. She is working on Paramount’s upcoming psychological thriller Apartment 7A and is currently in production alongside Christopher Abbott at Blumhouse/Universal’s werewolfmade in New Zealand by Leigh Whannell.

She recently landed the role of the Silver Surfer in Marvel’s Fantastic Four. The feature film, which will also star Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, will be shot after Weapons in London at the end of the summer.
