The film in preparation for 2025 with Laila Lockhart

Gabby and her cats will hit the big screen next year.

DreamWorks Animation and Universal revealed Thursday that Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie will open nationwide on September 26, 2025.

The live-action/CGI series has been a smash hit for Netflix since its debut in 2021. Created by Traci Paige Johnson and Jennifer Twomey, Gabby’s dollhouse is a multimedia preschool adventure centered on a 12-year-old who, after unwrapping an object, uses the power of her magical cat ears to shrink herself to the size of a dollhouse and go on an adventure with the help from his animated cat friends. The show operates with a narrative philosophy of flexible thinking and learning from your mistakes, and does so through a mix of things like music, dance, cooking and crafts.

Laila Lockhart Kraner will reprise her role from the series in the feature film, which follows Gabby as she goes on a road trip with her grandmother Gigi to Cat Francisco’s urban wonderland. But when Gabby’s dollhouse, her most prized possession, ends up in the hands of an eccentric cat lady named Vera, Gabby embarks on an adventure across the real world to gather the Gabby Cats and save the house doll before it’s too late, according to the movie’s logline.

Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie is directed by Ryan Crego, who earned a Children’s and Family Emmy nomination for his television feature Arlo the alligator boy. The film is produced by Steven Schweickart, who has worked as a production supervisor or co-producer on some of DWA’s biggest films, including this year’s blockbuster film. Kung Fu Panda 4, which grossed nearly $500 million worldwide. Twomey and Johnson will serve as executive producers.

Gabby’s dollhouse The series was the sixth most-watched original streaming series in 2023, according to Nielsen. Netflix recently increased its order to 100 episodes in total, with the series’ 10th season set to debut on the streamer later this year.

The series is among the top 10 most-watched TV shows on Netflix in 57 countries. In the United States, it has become one of the three largest preschool brands, inspiring a toy line, publishing items, home products, clothing, original music, an app, and a YouTube channel . Additionally, Gabby’s Dollhouse continues to grow through Universal Destinations & Experiences theme parks, global fan experiences and live events.
